Marian University Healthcare Camp
This one-week day camp is a hands-on, 高科技, and interactive experience for high school sophomores, 初中, and seniors interested in learning more about the healthcare professions. This immersive experience will explore the variety of careers in the healthcare and medical fields and give participants a glimpse of what a day as a healthcare professional might be like.
PARTICIPANTS WILL
- Interact 与 Marian University medical and 护理 students, faculty, and clinical partners.
- Perform actual procedures in a medical simulation lab.
- Learn how to splint broken bones.
- Learn the science of sports performance.
- Practice medical research.
Small Group Discussions
At Marian University we want every experience to be personal and individualized. During the Healthcare Camp students will be placed into small groups for the entire week in order to increase learning and give each student more individualized instruction and attention.
Healthcare Student Mentoring
Every camper who attends the Marian University Healthcare Camp will be grouped 与 current medical, 护理, and pre-health students as mentors for the week.
Hands-On Clinical Activities
The Healthcare Camp is a very interactive hands-on experience. Students will learn several basic clinical skills by practicing them in a medical simulation center environment.
Medical Research
During the camp students will gain skills in how to conduct medical research. Scientific research is critical to saving lives and students will learn how research in a laboratory connects to healthcare providers treating patients.
